SP Group Chairman Shapoorji Pallonji Mistry on Friday again pressed for listing of Tata Sons, saying it is not merely a regulatory compliance but a necessary evolution in the public interest, reposing faith in the government and RBI to "act decisively" on the matter.
In a statement, Mistry said the SP Group has "full faith in the government of India and the Reserve Bank of India to act decisively" on the matter of listing of Tata Sons -- the holding company of the coffee-to-cars-and-software conglomerate.
So far, no clear evidence-based case has been presented to explain how a public listing would materially damage the interests of the Tata Trusts or reduce their ability to serve beneficiaries, he added.
Mistry's comment comes amid reports that two of the trustees of Tata Trusts, Venu Srinivasan and Vijay Singh, have favoured public listing of Tata Sons. On the other hand, Tata Trust Chairman Noel Tata is against the move.

US Vice President J D Vance on Friday warned Iran not to "play" the US as he headed overseas for negotiations aimed at ending the war.
President Donald Trump has tasked the member of his inner circle who has seemed to be the most reluctant defender of the six-week-old conflict with Iran to now find a resolution and stave off the US president's astonishing threat to wipe out its "whole civilisation".
Vance, who has long been skeptical of foreign military interventions and outspoken about the prospect of sending troops into open-ended conflicts, set off Friday to lead mediated talks with Iran in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad.
"If the Iranians are willing to negotiate in good faith, we're certainly willing to extend the open hand," Vance told reporters before boarding Air Force Two to make his way to the talks in Pakistan.
But he added, "If they're gonna try and play us, then they're gonna find that the negotiating team is not that receptive."

BJP leaders in Bihar on Monday said that the name of the party's "first chief minister" in the state will be known on Tuesday, with Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan like to arrive here to facilitate the power transition.
Chouhan, whom the BJP headquarters in Delhi had on Sunday named the 'central observer' for the election of the new legislature party leader, will be visiting the state on a day when JD(U) president Nitish Kumar, the longest-serving CM of Bihar, is expected to put in his papers.
Kumar, who turned 75 last month and was sworn in as a Rajya Sabha MP a week ago, is expected to visit Raj Bhavan to tender his resignation immediately after his last cabinet meeting scheduled at 11 am, where he is likely to make a formal announcement of relinquishment of the post.
"Shivraj Singh Chouhan ji will be coming to Patna tomorrow and BJP legislators will be electing their leader in his presence," the party's Bihar unit president Sanjay Saraogi told reporters here.

Veteran actors Asha Parekh, Helen, composer AR Rahman and cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar were among the friends and colleagues who paid their last respects to legendary singer Asha Bhosle at her residence here on Monday.
Bhosle passed away on Sunday morning due to multi-organ failure at the age of 92 at  Breach Candy Hospital.
The final darshan is underway at her residence, Casa Grande in Lower Parel, and will continue until 3 pm.
Her body has been placed in a glass casket, draped in the tricolour and adorned with white lilies, with a ceremonial police salute accorded as part of state honours.
A large smiling portrait of Bhosle stood near the casket, surrounded by elaborate white floral arrangements.

Eleven people were killed and two severely injured after a van collided with a cement mixer on a bridge in Maharashtra's Thane district on Monday, police said.
The fatal crash occurred around 10.45 am on the Raita bridge in Govili village of Murbad, an official from the district rural police told PTI.
The van heading to Murbad from Kalyan collided head-on with a cement mixer coming from the opposite direction, he said.
At least 11 occupants of the van have died, and two injured have been shifted to the central hospital at Ulhasnagar, Murbad tehsildar Abhijit Deshmukh said.
Six of the victims have been identified, and the process of identifying the others is underway, a senior police official said.
The deceased included eight men and three women, he said.
Following the accident, traffic was affected on the road from Kalyan to Ahilyanagar for a few hours. The stretch has now been cleared, he said.
